Dubai-based Front Row Productions and Saudi film company Alamiya Filmed Entertainment have partnered on My Treat ("Mahmool Makfool"), a Saudi-Turkish road-trip comedy about three young Saudi women who are avid fans of Turkish soap operas.
The film draws on the popularity of Turkish content in the Arab world, fueled by shared history and cultural ties. My Treat will begin filming in September, with scenes shot between Riyadh and Istanbul. Notably, it will mark the first time a Saudi feature film is filmed in Turkey.
The story follows three female superfans of Turkish soap operas—Abu-Laban, Mohsen, and Wegdan—who journey from Riyadh to Istanbul with the dream of meeting their favorite Turkish heartthrob. However, their adventure takes a surprising turn when they are mistakenly accused of kidnapping the star they admire, finding themselves caught up in a real-life Turkish soap opera.
